In creating Sleeping Position No. 1, I endeavour to visually expose the physical brutality inflicted by hostile architecture design elements on the human form.

I hope to initiate a dialogue about hostile architecture, through presenting a stark visual portrayal of the human body affected by these design choices. By casting the work in blood red, a universally human colour, the sculpture transcends markers of race, financial status, sexual orientation, and gender.

Creating this visual representation allows for a deeper community understanding of the physical discomfort these devices inflict, juxtaposing their often aesthetically considered appearance.

Through this public intervention, I aim to spotlight the contemporary issues arising from the

increasing popularity of these anti-human designs over the past decade. Designers of these spaces aim to deprive individuals of proper rest, turning community centres into places of a transient nature. I contemplate how the resources spent on these designs could have been allocated to finding long-term solutions that preserve community space quality for all.
